Short version: we collect what we need to run the site, we don't sell it, and you can ask us to delete it.

Who we are

Common Bowl (commonbowl.com) is a pet care content site. Questions about this policy can be sent to hello@commonbowl.com.

What we collect and why

Email address. If you sign up for our newsletter or submit a Food Finder or Treat Finder quiz, we store your email address to send you the results and, if you opt in, future emails. We don't add you to a list without your knowledge.

Quiz answers. When you use the Food Finder or Treat Finder, we store your answers (pet species, age, budget, health concerns, etc.) to generate a personalized recommendation. This data is also used in aggregate to understand what pet owners are looking for — but only in anonymised form. We never sell or share individual quiz responses.

Usage data. Like most sites, we collect basic analytics — pages visited, time on page, browser type, referring site. This helps us understand what's useful and what isn't. We use this data only to improve the site.

Decoder history. If you use the Ingredient Decoder, your decode history is stored locally in your browser. It does not leave your device unless you explicitly share a result.

What we don't do

• We don't sell your data. Not to brands, not to anyone.
• We don't send marketing email to people who haven't asked for it.
• We don't track you across other sites.

Cookies

We use cookies for basic site functionality (keeping you logged in if you have an account, remembering preferences). We may use third-party analytics tools that set their own cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work correctly if you do.

Third-party links

Articles and product recommendations link to third-party retailers (like Amazon or Chewy). Once you follow a link off this site, their privacy policy applies — not ours. We're not responsible for what they do with your data.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, contact us and we'll delete it.

Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you at any time. Email hello@commonbowl.com and we'll sort it out. If you've subscribed to our newsletter, there's an unsubscribe link at the bottom of every email.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top. We're not going to bury surprises in the fine print.
